BetBlocker has launched its acclaimed self-exclusion software and solution into a new language, with Greek now officially supported by the charity and its tool.
The anonymous self-exclusion software is designed to allow players to have control over their gambling habits while addressing qualms about privacy.
The charity has sought to establish itself beyond the English-speaking world and has spearheaded groundbreaking innovation by making its tool available in the mother tongues of people and groups it wants to protect.
BetBlocker has already translated its services into French, Finnish (translated with Casino Guru’s help), Japanese, Catalan, Portuguese, and many other languages. In the official press statement, BetBlocker elaborated on this achievement and its importance:
"The team at BetBlocker begins 2026 with continued dedication to the charity’s expansion into fresh languages. It has long been recognised by the driving forces at BetBlocker that providing tailored support in native languages is of significance if their users are to have ultimate control of their gambling habits. Only then can gambling harms can be prevented."
There are 13m speakers of Greek worldwide, BetBlocker noted, indicating that the localization has been agood use of its resources. The latest localization has been aided by EveryMatrix and Christina Theophilos.
Commenting on this event, EveryMatrix Head of Compliance Jake Cachia: "EveryMatrix is proud to partner with BetBlocker and support the Greek translation of the app. With BetBlocker now available in Greek, people in Greece can access the tool in their own language, making it easier to take practical steps to pause, stop, or reduce their gambling if they need to."
Theophilos similarly welcomed the opportunity to see the translation made available:
"As a Greek-Canadian with close family ties in Greece, it was an honour and a privilege to translate the BetBlocker app into Greek. Many people are unaware that they are gambling on illegal websites that offer no player protection and can cause serious financial and emotional harm, and while statistics suggest that at least 2.4% of the population may experience gambling addiction, the true number of individuals and families affected is likely much higher and often hidden."
Not least, BetBlocker Chief of Safer Gambling Partnerships Pedro Romero was similarly excited about the latest opportunity. He added:
"Supporting people in their native language is not a 'nice to have', it is often the difference between someone successfully reaching a blocked state and giving up partway through setup. Blocking software can be technically involved, requiring multiple manual changes to device settings, and many people seek out this support when they are already under stress or at a point of crisis, so clarity and familiarity of language matter."
By targeting specific languages, BetBlocker is capable of delivering the kind of support that vulnerable communities in those target languages need.
