What to expect from WWE’s iGaming expansion

This week, it was confirmed that the WWE had teamed up with Fanatics for its expansion into iGaming.

Few clues were given away as to what the collaboration will entail, as Fanatic secured a heavyweight IP deal to boost its global footprint.

PPV Themed Titles

The PPV calendar is an integral part of what the WWE is bringing to the table. The iGaming collaboration with Fanatics is set to tap into this through a myriad of titles.

The group has already announced the WWE Bonus Rumble Gold Blitz (Games Global) and the WWE Clash of the Wilds (Games Global), which both utilise the identity of two major events from the PPV calendar.

The standout event in the calendar is WrestleMania – it seems highly likely that we will see this celebrated as part of WWE’s iGaming venture.

Further capitalising on the major events on the WWE calendar, the collaboration has confirmed it will launch during SummerSlam weekend in August.

“We are excited to expand our relationship with WWE to now include an exclusive portfolio of WWE-themed online casino games,” said Ari Borod, Chief Business Officer at Fanatics Betting and Gaming.

“This is a natural extension of the WWE-Fanatics partnership, which already includes global e-commerce, licensed merchandise, memorabilia, as well as producing and distributing a growing lineup of digital shows.”

Locking in Live Dealer

The collaboration has also earmarked the live dealer vertical as one that it could achieve success, with the two creative entities coming together.

The group outlined that players can “dive into a world of thrills as Fanatics Casino brings the casino floor directly to a customer’s fingertips”.

This will include a wide array of classic and modern casino games, including slots, blackjack, roulette, progressive jackpots and video poker.

With a comprehensive and engaging gaming experience, it appears inevitable that Fanatics Casino will be creative in terms of bringing a live casino experience to players and tapping into the assets made available as a result of the WWE link-up.

Innovative features

As mechanics and features continue to take centre stage in slots, we can anticipate the use of some WWE features to bring a new level of innovation and creativity to its mechanics.

Already laid out are the Raw Multiplier Melee (Boom Entertainment) and the SmackDown Big Money Entrance! (Boom Entertainment), which will likely see wrestling fans excited by the prospect of some of the games to come as a result of the link.

Responsible advertising

Given the reach of the WWE, Fanatics emphasised in announcing the partnership that it would continue its focus on ensuring responsible gaming reminders are maintained.

In terms of Responsible Gaming, Fanatics Casino emphasised it “encourages users to play with a plan, using in-app tools like time, deposit and wager limits. Fanatics Casino has also partnered with Birches Health to provide additional support services intended for users with issues managing their play.”

Efforts around the formation of games could be integral to ensuring that the partnership doesn’t appeal to a younger generation, if games and marketing are focused on older stars and legends, who were around during a previous era.
