Light & Wonder Obtains Supplier Licence from UAE Regulator

Light & Wonder has become one of the first approved suppliers in the United Arab Emirates, receiving a licence from the country’s new federal regulator – the General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority (GCGRA).

This licence allows the company to supply its land-based gaming solutions and online gaming content to the market amid upcoming significant regulatory changes.

The licence granted by the GCGRA gives Light & Wonder the right to offer a wide range of gaming products in the UAE, including electronic machines, table games, and digital content.

The company is among the first to receive such authorisation since the establishment of the GCGRA in 2023.

Matt Wilson, President and CEO of Light & Wonder, commented: “Securing a license from the GCGRA is an important milestone for Light & Wonder as we enter one of the most anticipated new regulated markets in the world. We’re honoured to be among the first approved suppliers and are committed to bringing our trusted, responsible and player-first approach to the UAE.”

Light & Wonder Strengthens Its Position in Regulated Gaming Markets

The company’s entry into the UAE market marks a significant milestone in its comprehensive international growth strategy. Light & Wonder is actively expanding its presence in regulated jurisdictions, strengthening its foothold in North America, Europe, and now the Middle East.

The UAE, which has previously prohibited most forms of gambling, is widely regarded as a potential game-changer for the region’s gaming industry.

Amid the news of obtaining its licence, Light & Wonder continues to report impressive financial results. In the first quarter of 2025, the company recorded its 16th consecutive quarter of revenue growth, with adjusted EBITDA increasing by 11%.

In addition to geographic expansion, the company has also broadened its product portfolio. In June 2025, Light & Wonder released the slot game The Wizard of Oz – Follow the Yellow Brick Road, the second title in its licensed slot series with BetMGM, available in New Jersey, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Ontario.

Earlier this year, the company completed the $850 million acquisition of Grover Gaming’s charitable gaming assets, adding a new vertical to its operations.
