Digitain has praised its presence in Malta for the advancement of the company’s European growth strategy. 

Building on the establishment of its Malta unit in January, headed by CEO Aida Vardanya, Digitain has announced the opening of a new office on the island. 

Commenting on the opening, Vardanyan said: “Our Malta office is more than just a location—it’s a strategic hub for our European operations. 

“It helps us stay closely connected with our European partners, better understand local needs, and provide more responsive support. Being based here allows us to build stronger relationships and deliver on our long-term vision of enhanced regional partnerships.”

Vardanyan was chosen to lead Digitain’s Malta division in January after spending almost a decade at the company in various roles. 

Alongside her, Digitain also recruited Gil Soffer as Chief Commercial Officer, seeking to tap into his management experience garnered working as the Senior Vice President of Sales and Business Development at Galaxsys. 

According to the company, Malta’s location and status as an iGaming jurisdiction allows Digitain Malta to serve as a central hub for its commercial, compliance and partner support services across Europe. 

In addition, it acts as a regional base for executives and support staff from around the world.

“Malta gives us a unique advantage, as it allows us to operate at the heart of Europe’s iGaming ecosystem,” added Soffer. “We’re closer to our partners and better positioned to support market-specific demands. It’s a practical step that strengthens both our day-to-day operations and long-term ambitions across Europe and beyond.”

Alongside the reshuffle upon the opening of its Malta division, Digitain further strengthened its executive team in June with the appointment of Mary Ann Calleja as the company’s new Chief Production Officer. 

Formerly of William Hill, FanLeague and LeoVegas, Calleja has been tasked with shaping the development of Digitain’s product offering and leading the expansion of its portfolio.
